James and Tamara Piper started Pedal Power Bicycles in the fall of 1999. The original store was in downtown San Marcos, blocks from the Texas State campus. Many, many late nights and lots of nail biting has brought Pedal Power to the newly constructed building at 2617 S. IH 35, one exit north of the Tanger Outlet Center. The move was completed in July, 2007.
James has 23 years of experience working in bicycle stores starting as "tube boy" at an Austin, Texas bicycle store in 1989. Tamara and James have been married for 14 years and have three children. Pedal Power is a local, family owned store with a focus on quality products and quality customer service.
